ANOAQA’s Internship Programs
The Asian Network of A-Spec Queer Activists (ANOAQA) is a digital platform devoted to amplifying queer Aro-Ace narratives, showcasing diverse artistic expressions, and publishing insightful articles with a specific focus on fostering A-Spec queer sensibility and awareness among Asian youth. It strives to be a comprehensive resource for all things related to asexual and aromantic queer communities across Asia. ANOAQA offers part-time, remote volunteer internships and contract-based online paid internships, available to both students and young professionals. 1. Multimedia Internship
We are seeking interns from anywhere in Asia or beyond for our Multimedia Internship Program. ANOAQA provides a flexible, work-from-anywhere opportunity designed for both students and professionals. This position involves working primarily with multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, and social media reels.
The eight-week program offers valuable experience for those interested in careers in media, social advocacy, or engaging deeply with issues of queer identity, gender, sexuality, caste, and other social topics. Interns are required to have a reliable internet connection, a computer/laptop, and a smartphone, and are expected to commit 2-3 hours per day, depending on the assigned tasks. Upon successful completion, interns will receive a certificate of work experience and, upon request, a letter of recommendation. The program includes a two-way feedback process aimed at enhancing the overall internship experience.
Nature of the internship: Online, remote and part-time
Roles and Responsibilities
- Helping in the PODCAST production at ANOAQA
- Creating weekly reels/short form video content for our social media platforms.
- Conceptualising, scripting, shooting, and editing one video in their tenure as interns
- Creating graphics and creatives on Canva for video thumbnails and promotional posts.
- Exploring podcasts and other audio-visual content from pre to post production.
- Researching Youtube and Social Media marketing.
- Identify stories to cover and ideating
- Submitting one photo essay in their time as interns.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in video editing software (preferably Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Familiarity with Canva for design purposes
- Strong research skills and the ability to script engaging video content
- Photography skills (optional)
- Understanding of ethical journalism, particularly in the context of language choice and imagery when dealing with sensitive topics
- Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and effective teamwork abilities

2. Editorial Internship
ANOAQA offers work-from-anywhere internship program to students and professionals alike. The internship program aims to develop and deepen one’s understanding of queer while providing skill-based training on queer writing, content writing and editing.
The eight-week program will be a relevant work experience for people looking for a career in the media and social sector or to just engage with queer, queer feminism, gender, sexuality, caste and other relevant topics. Interns only need a regularly functioning internet connection and a computer/laptop & smart phone and would be expected to commit 2-3 hours daily depending on the work tasks. After successful completion of the internship, interns will receive a certificate of work experience and a letter of recommendation on request. Feedback will be a two-way process where the focus would be to improve the internship experience.

Intersectional Queer Feminist Critique: Interns are invited to critique any popular/underrated movie & books, web series, or television show through an intersectional queer feminist lens, with a focus on identifying asexual and aromantic discourses within books and films. The selected film or show can be from any language or period, though it should have achieved significant popularity either at the time of its release or over time. (800-1000 words)
Critical Analysis of Government Responses to A-Spec Hate Crimes: In light of the reopening of social spaces and travel, interns will critically evaluate the effectiveness of various Asian governments in addressing the crisis of hate crimes against A-Spec individuals. This analysis should be grounded in data, policy evaluations, and reports of incidents throughout the pandemic. (800-1000 words)
Impact of Influencer Culture on Queer Politics: Interns will explore how influencer culture on social media has shaped dialogues around queer politics, including issues of majoritarianism within the minority community spectrums, privilege, and the rise of pink capitalism. This discussion should provide a nuanced examination of the intersections between digital platforms and contemporary queer movements. (800-1000 words)
